Man dies after clinging to hijacked moving van

LOS ANGELES, CA – A carjacking victim has succumbed to injuries sustained during a dramatic vehicle pursuit, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).

The incident, which unfolded last week, began when LAPD officers were alerted to a carjacking in progress. The victim was reportedly clinging to the side of a box truck as the suspect sped away. This desperate attempt to hold on ultimately led to tragic consequences.

Footage from the pursuit shows the intense chase that ensued, with the victim precariously hanging onto the vehicle. The suspect continued to drive recklessly, and at some point during the chase, the victim fell from the truck. The injuries sustained in this fall proved fatal.

The LAPD pursued the suspect for a considerable distance before one of the truck’s tires blew out, forcing the driver to pull over. The suspect, a man in his 20s, surrendered to authorities and was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect is now facing multiple charges, not only related to the carjacking but also for the fatal injuries inflicted on the victim. The LAPD has not yet released the names of the victim or the suspect, pending notification of the victim’s family.

This tragic event underscores the dangers associated with high-speed pursuits and the lengths to which victims might go to reclaim their property. The LAPD continues to investigate the incident to ensure justice is served for the victim and their family.
