Man in custody after shooting five officers

GLENDORADO TOWNSHIP, MN – An individual was apprehended in Glendorado Township, Minnesota, following an incident where five officers were injured during the execution of a warrant. Hours after the incident, aerial footage showed the suspect being transported via helicopter. The Benton County Sheriff’s Office, leading the operation, had sought assistance from numerous public safety agencies in response to this significant event occurring near Princeton.

Three of the injured officers received medical attention at North Memorial Health Hospital, while the remaining two were cared for in St. Cloud, according to Robbinsdale Police Capt. John Elder, all officers’ injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. These officers hailed from a variety of law enforcement agencies.

The scene of the incident was a rural backdrop, dotted with houses nestled among trees and adjacent to sprawling farm fields. Witnesses reported seeing an armored vehicle patrolling the vicinity. Although initial details regarding the circumstances of the apprehension remained scarce, it was clear that the confrontation happened during the warrant service when the suspect began firing.

Locally broadcasted videos showcased a significant law enforcement presence, with officers decked in tactical gear. The state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension later confirmed their involvement in the response.
