One person was killed in a crash on southbound Interstate 435 at Gregory Boulevard that started with a pursuit by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. The driver of the small white pickup truck was trying to exit the highway when he crashed into two other vehicles.

Highway patrol Sgt. Andy Bell said the driver of a small white pickup truck with a suspicious registration fled southbound on I-435 and rolled the vehicle.

Two vehicles were hit by a truck trying to exit the highway. The driver of one of the vehicles was killed and one passenger was in extremely critical condition.

The deadly crash shut down all lanes of I-71. Investigators don’t really know what caused the semi truck to drift into the median, but they did talk to the driver and he said that the wind caused it.

One driver was transported to UC Medical Center by air to treat his injuries, and the other was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the semi truck suffered minor injuries, but was pronounced dead when discovered by first responders that arrived at the scene. Southbound lanes are closed from the 75 split to the Walton Verona exit, and northbound lanes look better.
