Man seriously injured after jumping on stolen car

NEW YORK CITY, NY – In a dramatic sequence of events, a man was severely injured in the Bronx after attempting to thwart a car theft by clinging to his own vehicle as it sped away. The incident unfolded at the intersection of Wilkinson and Edison Avenues, culminating in a devastating crash that left the owner in critical condition.

The chaos began just two blocks away when the victim, who had double-parked his black Infiniti sedan with the engine running, made a quick stop at a nearby Chinese restaurant. Surveillance footage captured the suspect arriving in an SUV, slipping out from the back passenger door, and seizing the opportunity to jump into the unattended Infiniti.

Realizing the theft in progress, the car owner rushed out and grabbed onto the driver’s side door as the thief accelerated away. Witnesses recount the owner hanging onto the vehicle for nearly two blocks before the dramatic finale. The stolen car collided with several parked vehicles, leaving the owner trapped and severely injured.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as harrowing, with the victim reportedly run over by his own car during the chaotic escape. “I was delivering a package when I saw him laid out on the ground,” a witness recounted. “His leg was just dangling, and it was a bloody scene.”

The aftermath was grim, with the victim suffering significant head and leg injuries. Emergency responders rushed him to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Observers noted that the victim’s leg appeared almost detached, leading to fears that it might not be salvageable.

The suspect abandoned the stolen Infiniti a short walk from the crash site and fled on foot. Despite a swift response, authorities have not yet made any arrests. It was revealed that the victim had left his key fob inside the vehicle, which enabled the theft.

The incident has left the community on edge as police continue their investigation. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and ensure their vehicles are secure to prevent similar occurrences.
