Man shoots wife, toddler, then himself

PHOENIX, AZ – A tragic incident unfolded in a quiet Phoenix neighborhood, leaving a family shattered and a community in mourning. Late Sunday night, a domestic dispute turned fatal inside a townhome near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road, resulting in the deaths of a husband and wife and critically injuring their young child.

Phoenix police are actively investigating the circumstances that led 38-year-old Andrew Correa to fatally shoot his wife, Ashley, before turning the gun on himself. Their three-year-old son, who was also shot in the altercation, remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Authorities have confirmed that the child has been stabilized, offering a glimmer of hope amid the tragedy.

Neighbors reported hearing a series of loud bangs and screams before gunshots echoed through the normally serene Avia Gateway townhomes in West Phoenix. Surveillance footage captured the harrowing moments, including the arrival of police officers who rushed to the scene shortly after 8 p.m. Upon arrival, officers knocked on the window of the townhome, only to enter moments later with their flashlights and weapons drawn.

The footage also reveals the grim discovery made by the officers—a three-year-old boy, bloodied and injured, was carried out of the home by one of the responding officers. Earlier that day, surveillance cameras had captured Andrew Correa walking past the camera multiple times, and later, the couple was seen leaving their home in football jerseys, seemingly unaware of the tragedy that would soon unfold.

On Monday, family and friends of Ashley gathered near the scene to light candles in her memory. Overwhelmed with grief, they struggled to hold back tears as they remembered their beloved sister, daughter, and niece. Although they refrained from speaking publicly, their sorrow was palpable.

As the investigation continues, the community is left grappling with the shock and devastation of the events. The police are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they piece together the tragic events of that night.

While the family navigates this unimaginable loss, the thoughts and prayers of the community remain with the young child fighting for his life in the hospital.
