Man shot dead at Mexican restaurant

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – Authorities are investigating a fatal shooting that resulted from a verbal dispute at Antojitos Mexicanos, a Mexican restaurant on 3943 Davie Boulevard. The incident took place early Monday morning, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police. They have identified the victim as a 54-year-old male named Socorro Camacho.

Pictures from the scene showed investigators moving around in the crime scene and medical examiners handling what seemed like a body covered in a white sheet. The police cordoned off the area around the restaurant, which was bustling with investigation activities.

Mauro Bonilla, who claimed to be a regular customer but was not present during the shooting, said he conferred with a witness. According to the account Bonilla received, the scene unfolded over a song playing on the jukebox that triggered an argument between two individuals.

Subsequently, the disagreement escalated, and one of them pulled a gun. Bonilla was perplexed as to how the individuals managed to enter with a weapon.

The victim’s brother shared that the family grew suspicious after they couldn’t get in touch with Camacho. Expressing his profound grief, he mentioned that Camacho was the only family he had in Florida.

The employees of Antojitos Mexicanos reported that the restaurant was emptied in panic following the shooting, and the alleged assailant fled the scene. The Fort Lauderdale Police confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is underway.
