CHICAGO, IL – A 56-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night while sitting in the front room of a Woodlawn neighborhood home on Chicago’s South Side, police said. The man was inside the house with family members, including his grandchildren, when the incident occurred, his daughter told local reporters.
According to authorities, the shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the 6600 block of St. Lawrence Avenue. Shots were fired from the sidewalk, striking the victim in the torso. Chicago Fire Department personnel transported him to a local hospital for treatment, where he was later pronounced dead.
The victim’s daughter, who wished to remain anonymous and did not provide her father’s name, described the ordeal as traumatizing.
Police have yet to identify any suspects in connection with the shooting. Area One detectives are leading the investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made. As part of their inquiry, investigators have marked over 25 pieces of evidence at the scene.
