Man stalked, assaulted, and stabbed to death a woman he used to date

HOUSTON, TX – A Houston man, Santos Hernandez Cornejo, is set to appear before a judge today, facing charges in the fatal stabbing of a woman believed to be his girlfriend or ex-girlfriend. Authorities allege Cornejo stalked and pursued the victim prior to the incident, which occurred over the weekend.

Court documents reveal that the 53-year-old suspect allegedly chased the woman into a local restaurant on Wilcrest Drive after a heated argument in the parking lot. The confrontation ended tragically with the woman, aged 50, suffering multiple stab wounds.

The restaurant’s staff called 911 during the incident. Meanwhile, homicide detectives, still processing the scene, were informed that Cornejo had also contacted 911, expressing his intent to surrender. According to police, Cornejo confessed to the killing.

During a probable cause hearing on Sunday, the court set Cornejo’s bail at $350,000. The judge described the act as a calculated effort to take the victim’s life, justifying the bail amount under the circumstances.
