
Maryland mass shooting – live: Tributes to victims after co-worker, 23, with handgun attacks factory – The Independent
Authorities said that three people were killed and one was wounded in a shooting at a manufacturing facility in Smithsburg, Maryland. The shooter, a 23-year-old Hispanic male, was shot and injured while being confronted by a state police trooper.
The shooter killed three people and injured another at the Machine factory. The mayor said civil liberties must be balanced with public safety.
The shooter was wounded in a shootout with a Maryland State Trooper and is alive in the hospital. The Maryland State Police trooper was shot trying to apprehend the man when the shooter targeted the trooper, who returned fire, injuring the suspect. The trooper is a 25-year veteran assigned to the Criminal Enforcement Division Western Region.
A victim’s father, Nelson Michael, spoke out in frustration about his son Brandon, who was wounded in a mass shooting at Columbia Machine in Smithsburg, Maryland. He did not offer speculation on the possible motive of the shooter.
Tributes to the three victims of the Columbia Machine facility shooting began appearing on social media hours after the attack.
The girlfriend of one of the victims killed during a mass shooting at a Maryland factory shared her grief on social media Friday. She shared photos of herself and Mr. Wallace and announced that he had been one of the individuals killed.
A local hospital was locked down after the shooting, and the suspect remains under police guard at the medical center.
