9 injured in mass shooting in Over-the-Rhine; police say least 2 people fired shots – WLWT Cincinnati
A fight broke out between two groups of people, and two officers saw a person shooting people. One officer fired a shot at the shooter, but the suspect fled the scene.
Nine people were treated at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. Lindsay Swadner, owner of The Hub in Over-the-Rhine, said she heard 30 shots and walked outside where she saw multiple people with gunshot wounds.
Multiple people ran inside The Hub to seek cover and safety, and a wedding party was among those seeking cover. Two groups of people exchanged gunfire near the intersection of Main and Woodward streets.
Police said two officers saw a person shooting people on Main Street. One of the officers fired a round at the shooter, who fled the scene toward Sycamore Street. Police claim that the officer who returned fire saved lives.
Authorities used flash bangs to control crowds after the shooting and gave first aid to many of the victims.
After the shooting, people began to run and find safety. The Hub became a safe haven for people seeking cover and safety, with multiple people running inside to seek cover and safety.
Police said they are adding patrols to Main Street in the recent weeks due to crowds. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to call police.
