Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Three men were tragically killed in a mass shooting at a party in West Philadelphia, with at least six others wounded in the early morning incident.
The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. on Sunday during a gathering attended by over 100 people near the intersection of Alden Street and Girard Avenue in West Philadelphia. According to police officials, the incident involved an exchange of gunfire between multiple parties.
One of the victims, a 33-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while two other men, aged 23 and 29, died later at a nearby hospital. Additionally, several individuals were injured, including a 28-year-old man shot in the foot, a 26-year-old woman shot in the buttock, and a 28-year-old man shot in both shoulders and knee.
Philadelphia Police Inspector D.F. Pace stated that the crime scene extended about half a block, with investigators discovering 25 to 30 shell casings of various calibers. Pace noted that there appeared to be multiple shooters involved in the incident.
As of Sunday morning, all the injured victims were reported to be in stable condition. While earlier reports indicated ten individuals were shot, further investigation revised the number to nine. Police officials mentioned that no arrests have been made yet, and surveillance footage is being sought to understand the sequence of events.
Although the investigation is still ongoing, authorities have recovered a firearm at the scene. The motive behind the shooting and the identities of the suspects remain unknown at this time. This tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing issue of gun violence in communities across the country.
