Seattle, Washington: Microsoft is rolling out a new AI-powered tool named Researcher and Analyst within the Microsoft 365 Copilot app, aiming to enhance deep research capabilities for its users.
These deep research agents, including Researcher and Analyst, leverage reasoning AI models to assist users in conducting thorough research on various subjects. With skills like advanced orchestration and deep search capabilities, these tools can help in developing strategies, analyzing data, and generating reports for clients.
Researcher, powered by OpenAI’s deep research model, combines advanced orchestration and deep search capabilities to enable in-depth analyses. On the other hand, Analyst, built on OpenAI’s o3-mini reasoning model, focuses on advanced data analysis by iterating through problems and refining its thinking to provide detailed responses to queries.
What sets Microsoft’s deep research tools apart is their access to work data and the worldwide web. For example, Researcher can tap into third-party data connectors to gather information from various sources like AI agents, tools, and apps. However, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of these tools remains a challenge, as AI models can sometimes misinterpret data and draw incorrect conclusions.
To provide customers with access to Researcher and Analyst, Microsoft is launching the Frontier program for Microsoft 365 Copilot users. This program will grant access to experimental Copilot features, with Researcher and Analyst becoming available to Frontier participants in April.
