HAVERHILL, MA – A woman from Lawrence, reported as missing over the weekend, was discovered dead in Haverhill on Tuesday evening, with officials stating that her neighbor is probably going to face murder charges as a consequence of this event.
Named as Carol Flaz-Burgos, she was last sighted near her residence on Broadway Street in Lawrence on Saturday afternoon and officially reported as missing.
The investigation into her disappearance was comprehensive, combining digital record checks, K-9 searches, and Massachusetts State Police Air Wing’s assistance, elaborated Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker.
Cristian Montero, aged 35 and neighbor to Flaz-Burgos, has been arrested. Though currently charged with misleading investigators and witness intimidation, they are anticipated to escalate to murder charges. Jurisdictions have scheduled Montero to make an appearance at Lawrence District Court on Wednesday.
Indicating that Montero’s charges are likely to be upgraded following the completion of an autopsy, Tucker withheld details about Flaz-Burgos’ location of discovery or possible cause of death.
Describing the discovery of her body as a relief for her family, Tucker reflected the community’s distress over the events. He called on anyone with valuable information related to the case to contact Lawrence Police.
