Mom And Daughter Shot To Death By Ex-Boyfriend

According to police, a woman and her daughter were found dead inside their Merle Hay home on Monday morning. Both of them suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

It is believed that the gunman is the daughter’s estranged boyfriend, according to police in Des Moines.

The man, whose name was not released, was found with a gunshot wound at Riley Park. After being found, he was taken to the hospital and listed in critical condition.

According to police, he called dispatchers shortly after the shooting and admitted responsibility. He said he was walking to a park where he intended to commit suicide.

Just before 3 a.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 2600 block of 53rd Street. The victims that were shot have been identified by authorities as 47-year-old Danielle Remily and her 20-year-old daughter, Emma Parker.

It’s believed that the suspected gunman had previously dated Parker. According to police, the suspect forced his way into the home, shot the victims, and fled.

A block away from the crime scene, officers found the suspect in the park he told dispatchers he was walking to.

It is unclear what motivated the shooting. There are no indications that there is an ongoing threat to the public, as stated by the police. Counting the women’s deaths, Des Moines 20 homicides this year.
