Mom of two killed in crash with wrong-way driver

JENNINGS, MO – A 32-year-old mother of two, Latricia Robinson, was tragically killed in a car accident on Interstate 70 near Jennings Station Road early Friday morning when a suspected drunk driver traveling in the wrong direction struck her vehicle.

The incident occurred slightly before 2:15 a.m. This marked a distressing start to the holiday weekend for the Jennings community.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Logan Bolton noted the preventable nature of this tragedy, saying, “People leave their homes every day, whether it’s going to work or somewhere, and it’s the last thing you think is going to happen.” He stressed the avoidability of such accidents and the significant risk involved when someone decides to drive under the influence.

The alleged drunk driver, a resident of Madison County, was taken into custody at the crash scene on suspicion of driving while intoxicated (DWI). He was subsequently transported to a hospital, with his condition reported as serious.

Trooper Bolton further reminded everyone about safe driving habits, particularly for the upcoming weekend. Noting the holiday spirit, he advised everyone intending to drink to have a pre-planned strategy or make use of rideshare services to ensure that a good time doesn’t turn into a tragedy.
