The Harris County Sheriff’s Office reports that multiple gunmen opened fire outside a nightclub in Houston in the early hours of Sunday morning, killing one person and wounding four others.
Lounge 33 in north Houston was shot at about 2:00 a.m.
“Over 50 shots were fired here, which is a very frightening situation considering the number of patrons outside and the mobile food truck,” Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
In addition to the four women and two men wounded by gunfire, one man died and the other four were transported to a local hospital. It was not immediately clear how they were doing.
The Houston Chronicle reports that an AK-47 was used and shell casings of multiple types were found at the scene.
Gonzalez said homicide detectives were searching for surveillance footage and witnesses, but most bystanders had already left.
