Officials have confirmed that a mother in Texas has been charged with capital murder after she fatally stabbed her 5-year-old daughter in a park.
It has been reported by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office that 37-year-old Melissa White Towne admitted that she intentionally killed her 5-year-old daughter.
On Sunday afternoon, Towne stabbed the child at Spring Creek Park in Tomball, Texas, then drove her to the hospital.
In the emergency room, Towne asked for a wheelchair because the girl’s body hurt. She walked back to her Jeep Cherokee, where the nurse discovered the girl unresponsive.
There were lacerations and ligature marks on the child’s neck, and her body was partially wrapped in plastic and mesh bags. She was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Towne was taken into custody at the hospital by officers from the Tomball Police Department. She is being held at the Harris County Jail on capital murder charges.
