RAEFORD, NORTH CAROLINA – As residents in North Carolina grapple with the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, the Mountain Mule Packer Ranch has stepped up to provide aid by utilizing mules to deliver essential supplies to areas affected by the storm. Mike Toberer, the owner of the ranch, has mobilized a team of mules to transport food, water, and other necessities to hard-to-reach mountainous regions in the state.
Toberer mentioned that each mule has the capacity to carry up to 200 pounds of supplies, making them valuable assets in delivering aid to areas where conventional vehicles may struggle to navigate. The ranchers and mules departed on Monday morning, with plans to head to Weaverville, NC to offer assistance. However, they remain flexible and open to delivering supplies to other areas in need as well.
With the ranch located in Raeford, approximately 110 miles east of Charlotte, and about 245 miles away from Weaverville, the team is committed to providing support to those affected by the hurricane. They are loading up fully equipped trucks and stock trailers to transport supplies to western North Carolina.
The initiative by Mountain Mule Packer Ranch has received overwhelming support and encouragement from the community, appreciating the efforts to deliver aid by utilizing mule trains. The dedication shown by Toberer and his team in ensuring that supplies reach areas where traditional methods may face challenges underscores the importance of innovative approaches in disaster relief efforts.
In times of crisis, such as after Hurricane Helene, the resilience and resourcefulness of communities and individuals alike shine through, as seen in the collaborative efforts of Mountain Mule Packer Ranch and its team of mules. Their willingness to go the extra mile to assist those in need reflects the spirit of solidarity and compassion that defines the response to natural disasters.
