North Carolina Step-Mom Charged With Attempted Castration Of Toddler Step-Son

A woman from North Carolina has been arrested and faces several charges after authorities claim that she attempted to castrate her 5-year-old stepson.

The 33-year-old Bracey Renee Byrd was arrested Friday and charged with three counts of attempted murder, one count of felony child abuse that resulted in serious bodily harm, one count of malicious castration, one count of first-degree kidnapping, and one count of felony child abuse resulting in physical injury.

According to FOX 8, the woman was arrested by police and given a $2 million secured bond.

After receiving a referral from the Wilson County Department of Social Services on July 29 about possible allegations of child abuse, the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into the alleged abuse.

It was reported that the child had third-degree burns and other injuries, so he had to be taken to Wilson Medical Center’s Emergency Department for treatment.

Afterward, the child was transported to the UNC Burn Center in Chapel Hill for further treatment.

According to the officials, the child suffered bruising to his face, arms, head, upper and lower legs, back, and genital area, as well as bruising to his face and arms. At the time, some of the injuries were older and still healing.
