San Jose, California – Nvidia’s GPU drivers have presented a series of challenges for users in recent months, with reports of issues such as black screens, game crashes, and stability problems. The problems began with the release of drivers for the RTX 50-series cards back in January, leaving many users frustrated and seeking solutions.
Reddit and Nvidia’s support forums have been flooded with complaints from users struggling to deal with the various troubles caused by the faulty drivers. Many have resorted to rolling back to older versions of the software, such as the December 566.36 driver, to mitigate the issues. However, those with the latest RTX 50-series cards have found themselves stuck with the problematic drivers, as they are not compatible with the older versions.
In an attempt to address the ongoing issues, Nvidia has been rolling out a series of updates and hotfixes. The most recent release, the 576.02 driver, was intended to resolve many of the bugs and crashes that had plagued previous versions. Unfortunately, this update has introduced new problems for some users, such as inaccuracies in GPU temperature monitoring.
To address the issues caused by the 576.02 driver, Nvidia quickly released a hotfix, version 576.15. This update includes fixes for idle GPU clock speeds, game flickering, and other reported issues. Users are advised to install this hotfix, especially if they own an RTX 50-series GPU or use GPU monitoring utilities like Afterburner.
Despite these efforts, users continue to experience game crashes, performance issues, and stuttering, particularly when using G-Sync in certain games. Nvidia is actively tracking 15 open issues related to the 576.02 driver and is working towards resolving them in future updates. The company’s frequent release of hotfix drivers in recent months is unusual, as Nvidia’s drivers have historically been considered stable and reliable compared to competitors.
With ongoing challenges and the need for frequent updates to address issues, Nvidia users are eagerly awaiting a more permanent solution to the problems that have marred their gaming experiences in recent months.
