New York City box cutter attack caught on video in heart of tourist capital – Fox News

A man approached a woman pushing what appeared to be a cart of groceries in Times Square. He raised his arm and slashed her in the right hand with a box cutter. He was caught in the act on video.

The incident occurred at approximately 10 am- an act of violence committed in broad daylight.

The man sliced a woman’s hand with a boxcutter in a random Midtown street slashing, police said. The suspect fled eastbound on East 42nd Street before cops arrived.

Police are searching for the man seen on surveillance camera that assaulted the woman in an unprovoked attack. There is a current $3,500 reward being offered by police for any helpful information on the suspect that could lead to his arrest.

Anyone who knows the identity of the suspect of this street slashing has been asked to call the confidential number 1-800-577-TIPS. Doing so aids authorities to arrest the suspect and prevent further random acts of violence such as this one.

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition. She is expected to recover from her injuries.

New York City is seeing a spike in crime, including a 19 percent increase in felony assaults compared to this same time last year.
