Parents arrested for kidnapping their three children

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Three young Indianapolis children who were reported missing last week have been safely located, and the Silver Alert issued for their disappearance has been canceled. The children were found late Tuesday night in a motel in Pearsall, Texas, where they had been taken by their non-custodial parents, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department announced.

The parents, Willie Terrell, 50, and Jessika Officer, 31, were arrested at the scene. The couple now faces charges of interfering with custody, a Level 6 felony, and are awaiting extradition to Indiana. This arrest follows a multistate search that began last Friday when the children were reportedly abducted by their biological parents from a family gathering in Indianapolis.

According to police, the grandparents had legal custody of the children, ages 4, 3, and 1, due to previous issues of medical neglect under their parents’ care. The children were taken from Famous Dave’s Bar-B-Que on Vincennes Road, where their grandfather had briefly left them in the care of their parents, who then fled with them in a white minivan.

All three children have medical conditions that require daily medication, which they did not have access to while with their parents, raising alarm among law enforcement and medical professionals. After an extensive search, which included tracking the parents’ cellphone location data, law enforcement officials located the family in Texas, close to the Mexico border.

The arrest operation was conducted without incident, and the children were found in good condition but were taken for medical evaluation as a precaution. The recovery involved multiple law enforcement agencies across different states, highlighting the effective coordination between them.

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department extended their gratitude to everyone who provided tips and assisted in the safe recovery of the children. Further details about the case will be provided once the parents have been extradited and officially charged.
