Los Angeles, CA – Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is eyeing Robert Pattinson to join the star-studded cast of “Dune: Messiah” for the upcoming installment of the “Dune” franchise.
As Villeneuve finalizes the script for the next “Dune” film in preparation for a summer production, sources have revealed that there is interest in adding Pattinson to the project, which already features Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. However, no official offer has been made, and it remains unclear what role Pattinson would potentially portray in the movie. Legendary, the production company behind the film, declined to provide a comment on the matter.
Pattinson recently acted alongside Zendaya in the A24 film “The Drama” and is currently working on Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of “The Odyssey.” Additionally, he is set to headline Warner Bros.’s “The Batman,” with a sequel scheduled for a 2027 release. Pattinson is represented by WME, 3 Arts Entertainment, Curtis Brown Group, and attorney Robert Offer.
Following the immense success of “Dune: Part 2,” Legendary confirmed that development on “Dune 3” is underway. The first two films have collectively grossed $1.12 billion at the global box office and received eight Oscars, including best picture nominations.
Villeneuve’s “Dune” series has attracted a plethora of top-tier talent, with actors such as Javier Bardem, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, and Oscar Isaac all playing pivotal roles in the films. Florence Pugh and Anya Taylor-Joy are expected to reprise their roles for the third installment, set twelve years after the events of “Part 2.” Jason Momoa recently announced his return as Duncan Idaho.
Deadline was the first to report on the possibility of Pattinson’s involvement in the film.
