CHICAGO, Illinois – The newly appointed head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team, Mauricio Pochettino, has revealed the 25 players who will make up his first training camp roster. Pochettino, who was announced as head coach on September 10, will lead the USMNT for the first time on October 12 against Panama in Austin, Texas. The match, known as the Hispanic Heritage Match, will take place at Q2 Stadium at 9 p.m. ET. The U.S. team will then travel to Guadalajara to face archrival Mexico on October 15 at Estadio Akron at 9:30 p.m. ET.
Pochettino’s debut with the USMNT will be broadcast live on various networks, including TNT, Telemundo, Universo, Max, Peacock, and Futbol de Primera Radio. The match against Mexico will also be broadcast on TNT, Max, and Futbol de Primera Radio. Fans can follow the USMNT on various social media platforms such as X, Instagram, Facebook, and the official U.S. Soccer App.
As the team gears up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on home soil, Pochettino brings a wealth of experience from his successful coaching career in Europe. He began his managerial journey in La Liga with Espanyol before making a significant impact in the Premier League with Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur. His time at Tottenham included leading the team to their first UEFA Champions League Final in 2019.
Several USMNT attackers come into training camp in top form, with Christian Pulisic standing out for his stellar performances with AC Milan in Serie A. Additionally, forwards Folarin Balogun, Ricardo Pepi, and Josh Sargent have also been impressive for their respective club teams.
Goalkeeper Zack Steffen and midfielder Gianluca Busio make their return to the USMNT after some time away. Steffen has been performing well with the Colorado Rapids, while Busio has been a key player for the U.S. Olympic Men’s Soccer Team and Venezia in Serie A.
The upcoming matches against Panama and Mexico hold significance for the USMNT, as they look to continue their strong record against both teams. The rivalry with Mexico, in particular, will take center stage as the two teams face off on Mexican soil for the first time since 2012.
With a roster boasting an average age of 25 years and 160 days, the USMNT features players from clubs in 10 different countries. Led by experienced players like Pulisic, Tim Ream, Weston McKennie, and Antonee Robinson, the team is poised for success under Pochettino’s guidance. Exciting young talents like Brenden Aaronson, Johnny Cardoso, and Ricardo Pepi also bring depth to the squad as they look ahead to the future.
