TEXAS CITY, TX – Authorities in Texas are collaborating with their counterparts in Utah to locate a missing teenage girl who vanished nearly three weeks ago. Alyssa Petrov, 15, disappeared after leaving her school in American Fork, Utah, sparking concerns for her safety.
Texas City police have joined the search following a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Although Alyssa’s family has no known connections to Texas, the tip suggested that she might be in the area.
According to the South Jordan, Utah police, Alyssa left school on April 21, purchased items at a gas station, and then boarded a train to Provo, Utah. Witnesses reported that she sought assistance to reach Las Vegas. However, her current whereabouts remain unknown, and her family has been unable to contact her.
The investigation has led authorities to believe that Alyssa may have been attempting to meet individuals she encountered on social media. “It’s been a nightmare,” her parents shared, emphasizing their lack of contact with her since her disappearance. They expressed concern over her inactive social media accounts, which she used frequently.
Despite the lack of concrete details about what brought the investigation to Texas, law enforcement officials are diligently pursuing all leads. Texas City police have not confirmed specifics of the cyber tip, and Alyssa’s parents mentioned they’ve only been to Texas twice.
The family is working closely with the FBI in Salt Lake City, but Alyssa’s parents remain hopeful for her safe return. They urge anyone with information to come forward and assist authorities in locating their daughter.
As the search continues, the community is rallying behind the family, offering support and spreading awareness about Alyssa’s case. The hope is that increased visibility will lead to her safe recovery.
