Los Angeles, California – Jillian Lauren, the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner, was injured in a police shooting incident on Tuesday in Los Angeles. The Los Angeles Police Department reported that the incident occurred while officers were in pursuit of suspects involved in a hit-and-run.
Law enforcement officers were assisting the California Highway Patrol in locating three suspects who fled the scene of a hit-and-run in the Eagle Rock neighborhood. After the suspects ran into a residential area near the 134 Freeway and Figueroa Street, authorities set up a perimeter to contain them.
During the search, officers encountered Jillian Shriner outside a residence, armed with a handgun. Despite commands to drop the weapon, she refused and pointed it at the officers, resulting in them firing shots. Shriner retreated into her home briefly but later emerged and was taken into custody. She was then transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The LAPD clarified that Jillian Shriner was not involved in the hit-and-run incident and was subsequently booked on charges of attempted murder. Fortunately, no police officers were injured in the encounter. One of the hit-and-run suspects has been arrested by the Highway Patrol, while two others remain at large.
Weezer, the famous rock band comprised of Rivers Cuomo, Scott Shriner, Patrick Wilson, and Brian Bell, recently announced their surprise addition to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival lineup. The band joined the festival following the withdrawal of other artists like FKA Twigs and Anitta.
