Poll: Voters Pick Sides of the Thin Blue Line

(AbsoluteNews.com) – For months, Democratic lawmakers and voters have tried to convince everyone that police are waging war on Americans, specifically, people of color. For more than 100 days, there have been violent riots in cities from people allegedly protesting violence from cops by destroying property and even attacking officers.

So, how do Americans really feel about what’s been happening in their country over the summer? Do they support Democrats’ and Black Lives Matter’s message?

Poll Reveals How America Feels

According to the results of a Rasmussen Reports national poll on September 17, 59% of American voters believe there’s a war on the police happening. The same percentage of people also support states adopting Blue Lives Matter laws that would make attacks on first responders, including police, hate crimes. They also believe in increased penalties for those convicted of such offenses.

Voters aren’t just worried about police officers’ safety. Sixty-eight percent of those polled are worried law enforcement attacks will lead to a shortage of officers, and that could endanger their own families by making their cities less safe.

Alienating Voters

The poll results mirror similar findings earlier this year. In June, a Yahoo YouGov poll found 65% of respondents opposed defunding the police. The results were the same across the political lines, with Democrats and Republicans rejecting the idea.

President Donald Trump is running on a pro-police platform. He’s said he won’t allow law enforcement to be defunded on his watch. The POTUS has also promised to restore law and order in the streets of Democratically-run cities that have seen the worst of the violence over the last several months.

On November 3, Americans will make their way to the polls to decide who they want to steer our country for the next four years.
