Oaks, Pennsylvania – The 2024 National Dog Show crowned Vito the Pug as Best in Show, outshining close to 2,000 other dogs from 205 different breeds at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center. Vito triumphed in the Toy Group before advancing to compete against other group winners for the top honor. The Welsh Terrier, Verde, who won the Terrier Group, was named Reserve Best in Show.
Renowned for its delightful dog showcases, the National Dog Show has been a post-Thanksgiving tradition, drawing in over 20 million viewers annually. Last year, a Sealyham Terrier named Stache took the prestigious Best in Show title. Throughout the years, only two breeds have achieved the feat of winning Best in Show twice at this prestigious event – the Wire Fox Terrier in 2011 and 2012, and Claire the Scottish Deerhound in 2020 and 2021.
The National Dog Show, a beloved competition following the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, celebrates the beauty, skill, and diversity of our four-legged companions. It serves as a platform for showcasing the exceptional qualities of various breeds while entertaining a massive audience eager to witness the crowning of the year’s top dog. The event’s rich history is filled with memorable winners who have captured hearts with their charisma and grace in the ring.
