Raid to catch fugitive nets two murder suspects and drugs

MARIETTA, GA – A quiet neighborhood in Marietta witnessed an unexpected surge of police activity late Wednesday night when law enforcement officers descended upon a house on Crestridge Drive. The operation led to the arrest of two men sought for murder charges in Memphis and unveiled a trove of illegal substances inside the residence.

Residents were taken by surprise as the Marietta Police Department, alongside the FBI Safe Streets Gang Task Force, executed a search warrant at the property. “I looked outside and saw the SWAT team everywhere, with police dogs and officers armed,” recounted a neighbor who witnessed the dramatic scene. The operation was part of an investigation targeting Martavious Jenkins and Kameron Jenkins, both implicated in an April 22 shooting in Memphis that resulted in two fatalities.

Inside the house, authorities discovered more than just the fugitive suspects. In plain sight were various narcotics, including pills, psychedelic mushrooms, THC-infused candy, and several pounds of marijuana. These substances were meticulously packaged in clear plastic bags, accompanied by scales and over $4,500 in cash, indicating a possible drug operation.

Two women, Maria Jenkins, 25, and Jade Brown, 19, were also present at the house and subsequently arrested on drug-related charges. The house, reportedly used as a short-term rental, had been occupied by the group for several days, unbeknownst to the neighbors who described the street as typically uneventful.

“This part of the street is usually quiet,” a resident commented. “It’s unsettling to think about what was happening right under our noses. I’m relieved they’re gone; we don’t need that kind of danger here.”

The four individuals are currently detained at the Cobb County Jail. The two men are expected to be extradited to Memphis, where they will face charges for the murders they are accused of committing.

The arrests have left the community shaken but relieved, as they hope the neighborhood will soon return to its peaceful state.
