Reboot Alert: Eva Longoria Desperate to Return to Wisteria Lane—but There’s One Major Hurdle!

Los Angeles, California — Eva Longoria is eager to revisit her role in the iconic series "Desperate Housewives," but she jokes that a little reunion drama may stand in the way. During an appearance on Watch What Happens Live on Monday, Longoria quipped about not being able to “sleep with any more people on that street,” referencing her character Gabrielle Solis’s romantic entanglements on Wisteria Lane.

While Longoria has previously expressed enthusiasm for a reboot, host Andy Cohen prompted her to share who might need the most convincing to return. “Our creator, Marc Cherry,” she replied, explaining that he feels the show has explored its characters to their fullest. Cherry’s reluctance seems rooted in the rigorous demands of producing the show, which originally aired on ABC for eight seasons, concluding in 2012.

Longoria elaborated on the challenges of creating "Desperate Housewives," highlighting that it often produced 24 episodes a year. In contrast, she noted, "Sex and the City" had a lighter schedule, releasing fewer episodes and allowing for longer breaks between seasons. This disparity, she suggested, made the production of "Desperate Housewives" more intense.

During the show, Cohen also prompted Longoria regarding her character’s relationships, specifically whether Gabrielle had ever explored same-sex relationships. Longoria mentioned her character’s encounters mainly involved male partners, played by actors like Jesse Metcalfe and Ricardo Chavira. However, she humorously recalled one memorable moment when Gabrielle shared a kiss with Teri Hatcher’s character, noting, “If I was a lesbian, I’d totally do you.”

Longoria has discussed Cherry’s hesitance to consider a revival before, stating that he feels there is no compelling reason to revisit the storylines. In a previous interview, she indicated that Cherry questions what new insight he could bring to the characters after so many years. Yet, Longoria remains hopeful for the chance to step back into Gabrielle’s shoes, admitting, “I miss Gaby so much. I miss being Gaby Solis.”

As fans continue to look back fondly on the series, the possibility of reuniting the original cast remains uncertain, but Longoria’s nostalgia and passion for her character suggest that the desire for a comeback is very much alive.
