Kyoto, Japan – Nintendo has recently announced the upcoming removal of a popular Super Nintendo game from its Switch Online library. Super Soccer, known as Super Formation Soccer in Japan, is set to be taken down from the subscription service on March 27th, 2025, or March 28th, depending on the region.
Players who have an active subscription have less than a week left to enjoy Super Soccer before it is removed. The game, initially released in 1991, offers a unique 3D perspective of soccer gameplay, featuring 16 basic teams with distinct players and 8 different formations.
Originally added to the Switch Online Super Famicom service in September 2019, Super Soccer was one of the few third-party additions at the time. The removal of the game coincides with Nintendo’s recent expansion of its digital game library, including titles like Mario’s Picross and Donkey Kong for Game Boy.
Subscribers can also look forward to trying out four Koei SNES titles next week as Nintendo continues to refresh its offerings. Additionally, the company will begin phasing out Gold Points on March 24th, 2025, as previously reported.
As Nintendo remains silent on whether Super Soccer will return to the service in the future, players are encouraged to make the most of the game before it is removed.
