Hong Kong, China– In a groundbreaking event that showcased China’s advancements in humanoid technology, more than 20 two-legged robots competed in the world’s first humanoid half-marathon. The race, held in Beijing’s southeastern Yizhuang district, brought together teams from various companies and universities to demonstrate the country’s progress in catching up to the US in the field of robotics.

Despite the impressive technological feats displayed by the robots, they were far from outpacing their human counterparts over the 13-mile course. The race not only highlighted the capabilities of China’s humanoid robots but also underscored the ongoing global competition to perfect this innovative technology.

In a race that symbolized the intersection of human ingenuity and technological innovation, the humanoid robots faced off against 12,000 human contestants in a fenced-off lane. Tang Jian, the chief technology officer for the robotics innovation center, highlighted how Tiangong Ultra’s design and algorithm enabled it to mimic human running patterns during the race.
