(AbsoluteNews.com) – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has been fighting the CDC for months over its order which made it hard for the cruise industry to operate again. The Republican said the federal government has been hurting the state’s economy with its draconian rules. Recently, a judge agreed with the state.
On June 18, US District Court Judge Steven Merryday wrote a 124-page decision stating he believes Florida would be damaged by the CDC order. The judge said the state is likely to prevail on the merits of the claim and the CDC’s order goes beyond its authority. Merryday sent the two sides back to mediation to come to an agreement.
DeSantis responded to the ruling saying, “The CDC has been wrong all along, and they know it.”
Today, Florida prevailed in our lawsuit against the unlawful CDC order that shut down the cruise industry. This is a defeat for bureaucratic overreach, and a win for Florida jobs and tourism.https://t.co/5iFOEMpt5s

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody (R) called the ruling a “victory for the hardworking” residents of the state who rely on the industry. She said the government doesn’t have the “authority to single out and lock down an entire industry indefinitely.”
The ruling is the latest victory for the governor. Over the last year, DeSantis has become wildly popular because of the fearless way he’s taken on the Left and the federal government. His name is frequently mentioned as a contender for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination, but he’s not yet indicated that he wants to run for higher office.
