Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that his country needed more Western weapons to fend off the Russian onslaught. As his army is very effectively outnumbered and seriously outgunned.

Russian shelling and airstrikes have intensified around Sievierodonetsk and Lysychansk, two cities in the Luhansk region yet to be captured by the Russians, according to Luhansk governor Serhiy Haidai.
