Seoul, South Korea – Samsung is making unexpected adjustments to its software update plans, as reports suggest the tech giant may skip One UI 7.1 and One UI 7.1.1 to jump straight to the release of One UI 8.0 after facing delays with the previous update. According to known tipster Ice Universe, Samsung’s decision to potentially skip these updates could impact the launch of its upcoming foldable devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip 7, Galaxy Z Fold 7, and the dual-folding device.
The reported shift in Samsung’s software release strategy comes as Google gears up for the early launch of Android 16. This accelerated timeline may have influenced Samsung’s decision to prioritize the development of One UI 8.0 over releasing incremental updates like One UI 7.1 and 7.1.1 simultaneously. As a result, consumers can anticipate the potential release of One UI 8.0 in the latter half of this year.
The latest iteration of Samsung’s software, One UI 7.0, made its debut with the Galaxy S25 series and has since been integrated into newer affordable and mid-range devices like the Galaxy M06 5G, Galaxy M16, Galaxy A36, and Galaxy A56. However, users of last year’s premium phones such as the Galaxy S24, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Z Fold 6 are still awaiting the update.
Rumors suggest that Samsung may expand the One UI 7.0 Beta Program to include additional high-end and mid-range models like the Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6, and Galaxy A55 in the near future. The stable release of One UI 7.0 is expected to roll out to select Galaxy devices by April 2025, offering users an enhanced experience with upgraded features and functionality.
