Austin, Texas – Skilled 6-foot-7 center Sedona Prince experienced disappointment as she did not get selected in the recent WNBA draft following allegations that have overshadowed her potential playing career.
Prince, who was projected to be a late first-round pick, faced a setback in her draft prospects due to a series of concerning allegations of sexual assault and abuse made against her by multiple women.
The backlash against Prince extended beyond the draft, with a Change.org petition signed by more than 200,000 people urging for her removal from the TCU women’s basketball team. Despite these allegations, Prince denied any wrongdoing in a social media post last August and has not been charged with any crimes.
In a statement given to ESPN by her lawyer, A. Boone Almanza, before the draft, it was emphasized that Prince has not been charged with any crime and has been judged on social media by individuals looking to gain followers or settle personal scores.
Despite not being drafted, there is still hope for Prince to continue her basketball career through signing a training-camp contract or playing overseas.
Prince, who is 24 years old, has faced multiple setbacks in her college career due to injuries. Despite these challenges, her performance last season with TCU showcased her talent as she averaged 17.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, three blocks, and 2.4 assists, helping the Horned Frogs reach the program’s first Elite Eight.
The future remains uncertain for Sedona Prince as she navigates through the aftermath of the draft and seeks opportunities to showcase her skills on the basketball court.
