TERRELL, TX – A tragic accident unfolded Saturday afternoon in Terrell, about 40 miles east of Dallas, leaving five dead and several others injured. Authorities have taken a man into custody following a devastating chain-reaction crash involving multiple vehicles.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the incident began when 27-year-old Alexis Gonzalez Campanioni reportedly fell asleep at the wheel of an 18-wheeler. The massive vehicle collided with a Ford F-150 carrying five passengers, setting off a series of collisions involving seven vehicles, including three 18-wheelers.
The impact was catastrophic. Four of the five passengers in the pickup truck lost their lives, while the fifth passenger was airlifted to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Another individual in a separate vehicle also died in the crash.
Gonzalez Campanioni is now facing serious legal consequences. Authorities have charged him with five counts of manslaughter, reflecting the gravity of the incident and the lives lost.
