LOUISVILLE, KY – Authorities are currently investigating a shooting that happened in the parking lot of Pleasure Ridge Park High School during a football game, resulting in injuries to two teenagers.
On Sunday evening, police rushed to the scene at 8:02 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Officers found a young male victim with multiple gunshot wounds, who was then quickly taken to University Hospital, where he is in critical condition. Another teen victim sought medical help at Mary & Elizabeth Hospital later and is expected to recover successfully.
The shooting took place as PRP was playing against Male High School in a game rescheduled from Friday due to earlier weather disruptions. Upon hearing the gunshots, spectators sought safety under the stands, and players were escorted to locker rooms. The game was halted, and everyone was evacuated once JCPS Police and LMPD secured the area.
In a statement to the school community, JCPS expressed a zero-tolerance stance on violence, highlighting the swift response to protect those present and calling for ongoing community support.
The investigation is being led by the LMPD Homicide Unit and is focused on identifying the suspects. It is believed that several individuals were involved and later fled towards Greenwood Road. Authorities are requesting residents with surveillance systems to check for any relevant footage and report to the police.
