Investigators determined that a verbal altercation turned physical outside Empire club, and then shots were fired. One victim died at the scene, and another man died inside the van that pulled the food truck.

After gunfire erupted at a nightclub on Azalea Road, the case has become a murder investigation and the victim’s family members continue to search for answers. A candlelight vigil is being held Thursday night.

Officers initially responded to a report of a person shot at 2 a.m. Sunday and found an adult male unresponsive on the sidewalk. There have been no arrests that have been made in connection to this case.

The victim’s family was also on the scene, and they were visibly distraught. One relative said the family has questioned the club’s security and expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the investigation.

A deadly shooting happened 24 hours after another man was fatally shot during an argument outside another club. Police pointed to the lack of conflict resolution leading to lives lost.
