Spectator run over at car sideshow event

HOUSTON, TX – A tragic incident at a car meet in an industrial parking lot on the 8500 block of North Loop East has left a young man dead, authorities reported. The gathering, which involved numerous vehicles and spectators, turned fatal when a car performing stunts struck a bystander.

The event drew a crowd of onlookers who were capturing the cars’ maneuvers on their phones. During one of these stunts, a spectator fell and was run over by a car executing a donut. The individual became trapped beneath the vehicle, according to police.

Sgt. Ramer of the Cris division stated that the driver initially stopped to extricate the unconscious man. However, after realizing the severity of the situation, the driver fled the scene at high speed. The victim was pronounced dead at the location.

Authorities have identified the vehicle involved as a maroon Dodge Charger. Witnesses at the event provided crucial information, including video footage and the car’s license plate number, which is aiding the investigation.

The victim is described as a male in his early twenties, though his identity has not been fully confirmed. Investigators are working to gather more details about him, such as his name and date of birth.
