Tokyo, Japan – Konami made exciting announcements during its recent “Gensō Suikoden Live 2025.3.4” livestream. Fans of the beloved classic role-playing games Suikoden and Suikoden II can look forward to a host of new content in the Suikoden universe.
The livestream revealed plans for an anime adaptation of the Suikoden II game’s story, directed by Yūzō Satō at KONAMI animation. Additionally, a new mobile game titled Gensō Suikoden: Star Leap for iOS and Android devices was announced, expanding the franchise’s reach to a wider audience. Fans can also expect a stage play adaptation of Suikoden I, a new concert featuring music from the series, and an HD remastered release of Suikoden I&II titled Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars.
The new mobile game, Gensō Suikoden: Star Leap, promises a thrilling storyline set before the first game and after Suikoden V. The main story will be fully voiced, adding an immersive element for players. A manga adaptation by Suikoden III artist Aki Shimizu will also accompany the game. Furthermore, acclaimed musician Kaho Nakamura contributes the theme song “Campanella” for an enhanced gaming experience.
In addition to these exciting developments, Konami announced a stage play adaptation of Suikoden I directed by Norihito Nakayashiki, featuring a talented cast including Naoki Okamura, Takumi Wada, Ryōki Nagae, Yamada James Takeshi, and Ryūko Isogai. The stage play is set to run in December 2025 in Tokyo and Kyoto, showcasing the timeless appeal of the Suikoden series on stage.
To celebrate the franchise, a Suikoden concert featuring music from Suikoden I, Suikoden II, and the newly announced Suikoden Star Leap will take place on May 5 at the Sumida Triphony Hall in Tokyo. This event promises to be a treat for fans of the series, bringing the enchanting music of Suikoden to life on stage.
Finally, fans can anticipate the release of Suikoden I&II HD Remaster Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars on March 6, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. Originally scheduled for 2023, the release was delayed to ensure top-notch quality performance and gameplay experience for players. The anticipated launch date will mark a milestone in the Suikoden franchise’s history, offering players a chance to relive the magic of these classic games in a remastered format.
