A 50-year-old man is in custody after allegedly abducting a 3-year-old girl from her family’s apartment and checking into a nearby hotel with her, police announced.

Police got a call about a missing 3-year-old girl on Sunday morning. An Amber Alert was issued for Guity and Hernandez, and the suspect’s car was spotted at a hotel. As they searched the area, police found the suspect’s vehicle about a block away from where the girl had gone missing.

A motel manager alerted police that Holman Hernandez, 50, had rented a room in the motel. Officers forced their way inside the room and found a missing girl and Hernandez. The child was rescued and taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Hernandez was taken into custody at a hotel after allegedly abducting a 3-year-old girl. He put up a little bit of resistance before being taken into custody.

There is no 24-hour waiting period required to report a person missing, and the Texas Center for the Missing has compiled a wealth of resources to help.
