Police made a shocking discovery on a call that brought them to an apartment complex.

Two people have died following a SWAT standoff at the Lake of the Woods apartment complex in Mount Healthy on Sunday. The standoff ended at approximately 3:30pm, and it ended in two fatalities.

The victims were 6-year-old Iyla Johnson and her father, 40-year-old Eric Johnson, who was a convicted felon. Because he was a felon, he was considered to be prohibited from firearm possession and usage. However, that didn’t stop him from acquiring a gun that he used to commit this terrible crime.

Police heard gunshots from the second floor and forced their way into the residence, where they found two people dead.

The Mt. Healthy Police Department says that 6-year-old Iyla Johnson and her father, 40-year-old Eric Johnson, were found dead inside the apartment. The preliminary investigation indicated that Johnson shot his daughter before turning the gun on himself in a murder-suicide.

There is still currently an ongoing investigation for this case. Police are attempting to gather evidence and information about this case to fully determine what happened that resulted in the death of an innocent 6-year-old girl.
