Sydney Sweeney set to star in film adaptation of hit video game “Split Fiction” with Jon M. Chu directing – Hollywood bidding war underway

Los Angeles, CA – Actress Sydney Sweeney has been announced as the lead in an upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game “Split Fiction,” to be directed by Jon M. Chu. The script for the movie is currently in development by screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, known for their work on “Deadpool & Wolverine.”

“Split Fiction” is a fantasy and science fiction game created by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts. The story follows two authors, Mio and Zoe, who find themselves trapped in the worlds they have written. The game features split-screen combat, platforming challenges, and unique abilities for each character, creating a dynamic co-op adventure experience.

Sources close to the project have revealed that it has not been decided yet which role Sweeney will be portraying in the film – Zoe or Mio. The video game “Split Fiction” was released on March 6 and quickly gained popularity among players and critics alike, selling over two million copies in its first week and continuing to see exponential growth in sales.

The film adaptation of “Split Fiction” has attracted attention from top Hollywood studios, sparking a bidding war for the rights to produce the movie. The project is being produced by Mike Goldberg and Dmitri M. Johnson’s Story Kitchen, alongside Chu’s Electric Somewhere. Sweeney is also set to serve as an executive producer on the film.

Story Kitchen has become a prominent player in the video game-to-screen adaptation industry, with successful projects including “Sonic the Hedgehog” films, the “Tomb Raider” franchise, and the upcoming “Streets of Rage” adaptation at Lionsgate. With their track record of bringing popular video games to the big screen, the “Split Fiction” film is highly anticipated by fans of the game and movie enthusiasts alike.
