TACOMA, WA – A Tacoma man, already known to law enforcement, stood before a judge Thursday, accused of a gruesome crime involving an 18-year-old woman. Anthony Millspaugh, 40, faces charges related to the death of Chloe Moore.
Millspaugh, clad in an orange jumpsuit, entered a plea of not guilty to the charges. Prosecutors highlighted his troubling past, noting that he had previously served a 20-year sentence for a second-degree murder conviction.
Chloe Moore’s mother took to social media to express her anguish following Millspaugh’s arrest. She conveyed that the arrest brought no solace, only a stark reminder that her daughter is gone forever. “I honestly thought it would somehow ease my pain, maybe give me a moment of relief, let me catch my breath. But it didn’t. I don’t get her back. She’s not coming home. She’s really gone,” she wrote.
Court documents reveal that Chloe was last seen alive at Millspaugh’s apartment on September 21, 2023. Millspaugh admitted to investigators that their relationship was centered around drugs. He recounted that Chloe had a nosebleed, and after bringing her inside, she had passed out; he attempted CPR but claimed he didn’t know what to do next.
Surveillance footage played a crucial role in the investigation, showing Millspaugh carrying Chloe’s body down the hallway inside a suitcase. Two days later, firefighters discovered her remains in a burning suitcase near Upper Park in Tacoma.
The prosecution emphasized Millspaugh’s criminal history, underscoring the severity of the charges. Chloe’s mother, still grappling with the loss, has declined to speak on camera but remains vocal on social media.
