CINCINNATI, OH – A former employee of Saints High School faced the court for the first time on allegations of sexual battery involving a student. Emily Nutley, 42, is accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old student, leading to six counts of sexual battery.
During the court session, Nutley remained largely silent. Previously, she had entered a plea of not guilty to the charges, which detail three separate incidents. Each incident involved two counts of sexual battery with the same alleged victim, a student she supervised in an academic support program.
According to prosecutors, Nutley’s role at the school involved overseeing students with academic challenges, including the alleged victim. They claim that Nutley and the student began communicating outside school hours, exchanging explicit messages and photos, which eventually led to a physical relationship both on and off the school premises.
In court, Judge Jennifer Branch considered setting a monetary bond, a decision contested by Nutley’s attorney, Joe Curry. He argued that Nutley poses no flight risk and highlighted her strong community ties. Nutley, a married mother of three, has lived in the area her entire life, with no prior criminal record.
Despite the defense’s arguments, the judge set Nutley’s bond at $30,000, allowing her to post 10% for release. Additionally, Nutley was ordered to avoid any contact with the school or the alleged victim. Her movements were restricted to Warren County, where she resides, and Hamilton County, where her attorney and the court are located.
Nutley’s employment with the school was terminated following the allegations. Her attorney emphasized her deep roots in the community and the significant impact of the charges on her family and career.
As the case progresses, Nutley is scheduled to return to court on April 7 for her trial. The proceedings will continue to unfold, with Nutley maintaining her innocence against the charges.
