(AbsoluteNews.com) – President Joe Biden’s administration recently decided to take a terrorist organization off the international watch list. The controversial decision did not go unnoticed by Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX).
On November 30, the State Department removed the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) from its list of foreign terrorist organizations. Secretary of State Antony Blinken released a statement saying the rebel group “no longer exists as a unified organization that engages in terrorism or terrorist activity.” The administration claims it was trying to honor the South American country’s peace deal. However, several Republicans, including Cruz, expressed outrage over the decision.

During a Senate hearing on Tuesday, Cruz called FARC an organization of “Marxist-Leninist narco terrorists.” He pointed out they killed and kidnapped Colombians for decades and murdered Americans. Although he was angry, he said it was just a “pattern” of Biden’s failed policies when it comes to dealing with terrorists.
Under the 2016 peace deal, FARC terrorists agreed to lay down their arms and get more involved with the government. According to the New York Times, the most recent attack by the group was in June, when 10 rebels attacked a helicopter carrying Colombian President Iván Duque. The terrorists were charged with attempted assassination and a car bombing.
