HOCKLEY, TX – A 62-year-old woman from the Hockley area of northwest Harris County, identified as Dana Magnuson, was found dead on her property with multiple stab wounds on July 20. An unnamed 15-year-old male neighbor was subsequently arrested on murder charges, as reported by the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed that the young suspect was placed in the Harris County Juvenile Detention Center. It’s reported that the youth revealed to investigators that he wanted to experience what it was like to stab someone.
Deputies discovered Magnuson’s body in a shed at the back of her property, which prompted a theory of the crime’s progress. Law enforcement officers believe Magnuson was initially assaulted in her hot tub, followed by a struggle that transferred to her house and then, finally, to the shed where her body was found.
The defense attorney for the accused teen, Jon Stephenson, is waiting on critical evidence before making any assertions about the case. “We only have preliminary reports, and a petition has yet to be filed by the State,” he said, “We look forward to seeing the evidence they actually have. He’s a good kid from a good family, and we are working to figure out what really happened.”
The Sheriff described Magnuson as a community-involved individual. This murder has unsettled the typically peaceful neighborhood, causing residents to demand more information and justice. Insiders have stated that it’s too early to confirm whether the boy will be tried as an adult.
