A juvenile in California who mowed down a mother walking her 8-month-old in a stroller will ask for early release from prison on Thursday. Rachel, a young mother, said she was denied her right to participate in the judicial process and called the district attorney’s office.
The victim expected her assailant to receive a half-year sentence in a diversionary program for juveniles but instead received a 5-7 month sentence in a juvenile probation camp.
A teen driver hit a mother walking her infant son in a stroller while driving the wrong way down a one-way backstreet. He was found to have drugs in his system and marijuana in the car.
The driver was thin, White male with a neck tattoo and barely open eyes. The 8-month-old victim escaped serious injury.
A wrong-way driver struck Rachel and her 8-month-old, tried to flee, but was hit by a good Samaritan in a full-size pickup truck and sentenced to five to seven months in a juvenile probation camp.
Rachel has described the hit-and-run as an attempted murder, far more serious than the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office makes it out to be.
He said a minor, driving under the influence, struck a woman and her child, but did not charge the minor.
