Teen killed by oncoming car while trying to fix broken trailer

YARMOUTH, MA – A roadside accident took a fatal turn in Yarmouth on Friday when a 14-year-old boy was killed and two other people were injured. The victims of the collision were attending to a broken boat trailer when they were hit by an oncoming SUV.

Numerous emergency calls alerted authorities to the incident on North Main Street near Great Western Road at approximately 1 p.m. A pickup truck, towing a boat trailer with a broken axle, had been pulled off to the side of the road. This was confirmed in a statement from the Yarmouth Police.

While passengers were attending to the damage, an oncoming Cadillac SUV struck the trailer. The driver of the SUV ultimately ran over the people who were working on the damaged axle. The collision resulted in the teenage boy’s death and the hospitalization of two other individuals for their sustained injuries.

The Cadillac driver’s cooperation with the active investigation was confirmed by the police. The incident has sparked calls from local residents, who have witnessed multiple accidents on the stretch, for additional traffic calming measures to be implemented.
